Flash floods and heavy rains have wreaked havoc in Kerala over the past few weeks. The calamity caused immeasurable misery and devastation. In keeping with our endeavour to inculcate sensitivity, empathy and compassion among our students, The SD Vidya Rotary Interact Club organized Kerala flood relief drive. In pursuance of the Interact Club Motto ‘service above self‘ the students and teachers with great zeal and fervour took the initiative in lending a helping hand to those who faced such a catastrophe. For this humanitarian cause the school collected essentials like toothpaste, toothbrushes, soaps, washing powder, maggi, feeding bottles, baby food, milk powder, diapers, sanitary napkins, torches, bedsheets and towels. We are grateful to Goonj Foundation, an NGO for the underprivileged, who helped us in dispatching the relief material to the disaster struck state. Students visited Goonj processing unit on 5th September 2018 to witness the process of effective utilization and recycling of the waste products. It was an enriching experience for the students. The Interact Club of SD Vidya embodies the philosophy of making a difference by serving the needy and underprivileged section of society to help them get back to their feet.
